Hello,

Hmm...one inch? ;-) Jaja, funny, i know.

Don't remember the exact values, but i think it was about 1 inch
difference in width and something similar (maybe a bit less) in depth.
(Compare the specs at IBMs support pages to get precise values.)

Ok, i just checked myself...a T42p would be 7mm (.2 inch) more in width,
5mm (.2 inch) more in depth and 1cm (.4 inch) less in height than your
T30. It's weight is specified as 2.22kg (4.9lb) which equals the lowest
possible weight specified for the T30.

Anyway...i have a T41p, 14", 1400x1050 and by the time the T42p with
1600x1200 on 15" came out i thought that the notebook will be too big,
the pixels will be to small (i'm working as a graphics artist and i
sometimes need to see single pixels just for the sake of praising them
if not for anything else) and the like.

In the end a friend of mine got such a model and i was a bit jealous,
'cause the 1600x1200 15" rocks. I think the keyboard is the same size in
both and so the 15" T42p has a more broad border on the sides of the
keyboards.

So, right at the moment, i would buy the 15" machine, even though the
14" one ist slightly more mobile. On the other hand...yes, i still have
the memory of finding the T42p a bit big.

In general - according to my experiences - between 14" and 15" mobility
depends more on thickness and weight than on width and depth, since
allmost all carrying cases that you would use for a 14" would also be
capable of taking a 15" - or it wouldn't make much difference to replace
them.
Only ultraportables (X series) and subnotebooks (240/X) make a
difference in width and depth since they fit into smaller bags.

A little maybe.

Don't have much experience with this, but in any case, go for the Pro
edition. I only have an OEM one and i'm missing several things.

1400x1050 should be fine. You can only get 3D through fglrx - read the
list archives to get an impression of the drivers quality and involved
issues. xorg native drivers will work fine despite dual head, TVout and
3D.
