Not true!
I have used HDs as large as18g with no problems on several 760 models.
Both Windoze and Linux (at least after about 6.0) ignore the bios
limitation
and do their own management..
I have allways used a first partition not larger that 2G though.
The boot must start on a active partition that is 2G or less.

The real problem with the early models is that they can't support enough ram
when used with the recent, popular distros.
.FC3 seems to get stuck in the mud with 128M or less.

A few years back I had a 760XD with a 2.1G HD running RH 7.3
and it was nice little package.
LOL

I am ready to migrate 100% to Linux. The only problem is that I need
more space to have all programs I need compared to windows. My HDD
is 1Gb.

Following the thread about changing HDD I see quite a few of you
have done that. Please if some one is still keeing his old 6Gb or
more disk and not going to use it in the future make me an offer. I
will buy it. I need a RAM too.

Try eBay for deals on 3 and 4 GB drives. You might be able to get one
for as little as $20.

BTW, a 2 GB drive is plenty big enough for a minimal Linux install,
if you leave off KDE, Gnome, and OO. Icewm works just fine on older
low-resource TPs.

Best of luck.
