I first read about the radeon-patch in a the kernel bugzilla. There Benjamin
Herrenschmidt (maintains a PPC kernel tree) told, that the D2 stage for the
RAM on the video card is only tested on PPC and (normally) shouldn't be set
on i386 machines[1].
They started a whitelist of models, on which the new patch is tested. But I
never read, that someone tested it on a X31.
