[ltp] Recommended Thinkpad Model? $1500?

Yeah, I'm planning on spending $1500-$2200 now, with an intent to
buy accessories and upgrades with later paychecks... which leads me to
a good question to ask, which is how's the upgradability of thinkpads?

That's reassuring. How well/easy is it to use standby or
hibernate stuff with linux? I use standby a fair bit on my tecra,
since I'm usually lugging it around in standby mode for a several hour
stretch (4-6) every day, before I finally return home.
