I got a T43p with the X.org Radeon driver and working suspend/resume and
hibernate. For me, the key to get this working was to use a tool
(vbetool) to save and restore the video card's state before suspending
respectively after waking up. This also applies to hibernating.
Searching for vbetool on this mailing list should point you to the
original postings. By the way, this did not work properly when using the
fglrx drivers from ATI. Also, I could not get the radeon-specific
in-kernel frame buffer (radeonfb) and suspend/resume to work. With the
vesa framebuffer, it works fine, though, and also with no framebuffer
support at all.
Although it's a different video card, this may still apply to you.
Best,
