Hi,
I have exactly the same thinkpad with Mandrake 10.0. The module cs46xx
should in theory work but it won't. It's been broken in some way for
the thinkpad. I use the snd-cs4236 with alsa. You have to specify
parameters for your module in /etc/modules.conf.
Here is an extract of mine:
--------------------------------------------
options snd device_mode=0666
alias snd-card-0 snd-cs4236
alias snd-slot-0 snd-cs4236
above snd-cs4236 snd-pcm-oss
options snd-cs4236 port=0x530 cport=0x538 irq=5 isapnp=0 dma1=1 dma2=0
alias char-major-14 soundcore
alias sound-slot-0 snd-cs4236
alias sound-service-0-0 snd-mixer-oss
alias sound-service-0-1 snd-seq-oss
alias sound-service-0-3 snd-pcm-oss
alias sound-service-0-8 snd-seq-oss
alias sound-service-0-12 snd-pcm-oss
---------------------------------------------
It sometime happens that the module stop working. Then just unload it
and reload it (rmmod/modprobe) and it will start working again.
The dma1/2 parameters value may sometime have to be inversed to work
depending of your sound chips. Mine is a Cirrus CS4610/1 Crystal Clear
Sound Fusion.
Let me know if you get your sound to work.
Regards,
BT
