Hi
I'm using an R51 2887 ThinkPad and am having a couple of issues with
ibm-acpi. I'm running debian etch. i compiled my kernel (debian kernel
2.6.11-1) as per instructions on thinkwiki.org (and some others). as far
as i can tell all is ok (though keep getting kernel panic when booting
with a kernel with suspend2 - another issue for another day...).
my current kernel has ibm-acpi as a module and all other acpi and
related kernel bits into the kernel itself (fan, thermal, video, sleep
etc...). i have also tried acpi bits as modules - same result.
i have installed acpi and acpid. the problem is that the ibm-acpi module
does not seem to be working as i read it should - basically its missing
the fan and thermal bits (there may be others missing i'm not aware of).
using the commands/options to various features that are available seems
to work (Fn keys, volume......).
the contents of /proc/acpi/ibm is as follows:
# ls /proc/acpi/ibm/
bay beep bluetooth cmos dock driver hotkey led light video
from some reading there should also be fan and thermal (which is also
why when using gkrellm ibm-acpi it comes up with ibm-acpi?).
the contents of /proc/acpi is as follows:
# ls /proc/acpi/
ac_adapter button event ibm processor video
alarm dsdt fadt info sleep wakeup
battery embedded_controller fan power_resource thermal_zone
i'm loading ibm-acpi with option experimental=1
i've dug around for a few days now (recompiled kernel about half-dozen
times - admittedly a lot of this was trying to get suspend2 working),
but i still can't figure it out. i'm hoping someone else has dealt with
this before.
anyway... i've included the output of lsmod at the end of this text.
any suggestions would be most appreciated.
thanks heaps.
