My ageing Thinkpad T23, like almost all of the others I've
seen, has cracked its black casing by the lower left corner of the
left Fn key and the upper-right corner of the PgUp key near the
Ultrabay. These two locations have caused a lot of flexing in the case
when picked up or held in one hand, its very "rubbery" now to hold and
use.
Does anyone know where I can get a compatible case to swap out
for my innards? I've looked around on ebay for parts machines for T23,
but the only ones listed there have the 1024x768 screen, which will
not fit my 1400x1050 screen + base.
Are there other (cheap) places I haven't checked?
Also, the battery (as discussed in earlier threads) is
completely shot in my "personal" T23. I get about 45 seconds out of it
before it starts beeping at me to change it.
I also have a company-supplied T23 for my work at IBM, which
has a dead battery as well. I just had the battery replaced (the
previous one would only charge to 36%, then stop).
A month after receiving the "new" battery, the new one only
charges to 30%. It seems to have lost charging capacity over the last
week. It now reads 27%, and this particular laptop *ONLY* runs on AC
in the docking station. Should I turn it around and replace the
battery again?
