In my T43 it was located under the keyboard. If you turn
your notebook upside-down, there are four or five small
keyboard icons next to the screws, release those and you
can easily lift your keyboard.
The IBM technician mentioned that in some models there is
a small slot behind the battery pack, where you can pull
out the battery... but I haven't seen that before.

> How much did it cost you to replace the system board?

I was lucky since my notebook was only one week old and I
was able to convince the IBM technician that it really wasn't
my fault, so I didn't pay anything (but I have this 3-years
warranty next-business-day).
