They just work. A coworker bought a USB MIDI controller as a present
for his brother. It took me about 5 minutes to figure out how to get it
working with Timidity (software synth) and Rosegarden4 (plumbing from
external MIDI to Timidity's synth).
Back to topic: I've three Thinkpads (755CD, T23, T42), and I've never
considered buying a laptop that wasn't a Thinkpad. Love the ThinkPad
style keyboards, love the Trackpoint, love the ThinkLight, love the
hardware volume control keys.
