	I tried this same thing, and I get the following: 

modprobe ibm-acpi experimental=1
FATAL: Error inserting ibm_acpi 
(/lib/modules/2.6.12-rc5-susp/acpi/ibm_acpi.ko): No such device

	So it looks like something is amiss... the rest of acpi works 
fine however.. as compiled into the kernel as modules or monolithic.

	Any ideas?
