I have tried with:
modprobe nsc-ircc dongle_id=0x9
FATAL: Error inserting nsc_ircc (/lib/modules/2.6.9sw2.1/kernel/drivers/net/irda/nsc-ircc.ko): No such
device

and in dmesg I got:

any hints ?
