okay, let's call it "perfect-within-my-personal-perception". do not pin
me down on "perfect", the ati drivers definitely do not work with
suspend modes, at least from i own experience and what comments you find
on rage3d.org. the xfree radeon drivers do, though.
i do not really depend on GL for my day-to-day work. i do feel like i
depend on proper S3 and S4, though. i depend on smooth Fn-Space
switching to lower resolutions in lcd/crt clone mode for presentations,
via XrandR. and i'm always happy if i can run a crash-free framebuffer
console in combination with X. all of that works. that's way more
perfect than most of the other notebooks i've seen so far.
for doom3, i'm currently running two different serverlayouts. tedious,
but i'm not gaming that much anyways. :|
full 3d + composite and render support in xorg would be cool to have
some day, though.
