Things like tuning volume, brightness and turning on/off the ThinkLight
with the associated hotkeys work without any software support on my R51;
those things must be sort of hard-wired. The point about ibm-acpi is
that you can query and control all these things by software using the
/proc/acpi/ibm interface (well, currently only the ThinkLight for me).
And one purpose of tpb is displaying a fancy on-screen-display whenever
the volume, brightness, ThinkLight or display status is changed.
