Ingo,

If you have a CD you can then make a bootable CD (on another PC)
with Nero, (or whatever).

I have done this procedure successfully with a 600e.  In fact, it would b=
e
nice if IBM started releasing BIOS's as bootable .iso images, since so fe=
w=20
laptop owners use floppies.
