10.2 (aka LE2005) is already there ;-)
You could also consider trying the kernel-multimedia (though I'm not
sure which version came with 10.1...) which might give you better
response times for desktop systems.
I think the kernel has been improving in the last few months regarding
desktop usage (and this is still going on) so considering switching to
an even newer kernel (e.g. by upgrading to LE2005) might be worth
considering. Iirc the kernel-multimedia of LE2005 also already comes
with the ibm-acpi module.
But of course, adding more memory is always a good thing ;-)
