Have a look at the Hardware Maintenance Manual for the T2x series
which IBM provides:

This gives a detailed instruction to replace nearly everything in your
T23. And replacing the hard drive is one of the most easiest task
(thanks to the nice enginering job the folks at IBM have done and we
all have paid for ;-). Nearly as easy as replacing the battery or the
drive in the Ultra Bay.
