Hi All,
I just surprised to know that my thinkpad that I've been using for almost
2 years does not come with a serial port.
I have several 25xx routers and would like to use minicom to connect to
cisco router. I used to do this without problem using my previous toshiba
tecra, but unfortunately not with this thinkpad t41.
I'm using RJ45-DB25 connector to connect the router and thinkpad using
console cable.
What happen is I got 'offline' on the minicom and the screen does not show
anything.
Here what I got.
nebuchadnezzar:/home/davids# cat /dev/ttyS0
nebuchadnezzar:/home/davids# cat /dev/ttyS1
nebuchadnezzar:/home/davids# cat /dev/ttyS2
cat: /dev/ttyS2: Input/output error
nebuchadnezzar:/home/davids# cat /dev/ttyS3
cat: /dev/ttyS3: Input/output error
nebuchadnezzar:/home/davids# cat /dev/ttyS4
cat: /dev/ttyS4: Input/output error
nebuchadnezzar:/home/davids# cat /proc/tty/driver/serial
serinfo:1.0 driver revision:

5: uart:unknown port:00000000 irq:0
6: uart:unknown port:00000000 irq:0
7: uart:unknown port:00000000 irq:0
and Yes, I did enable the serial option on the bios and also I believe I'm
using the right minicom settings.
Please advise.
ps. Will it work If I buy RJ45-DB9 + DB9-USB?
thx
