Alex, I tried to boot my X30 with an HP external usb CD-writer but it
would not work. When I used a plain usb CD drive that is not a CD-writer
(a Teac) it booted fine. John
Some, mostly older, usb drives are not capable of booting. I had that
problem with a cd r/w drive. When I replaced it with a newer drive it
booted just fine.
