BINGO! after attempting to install and reinstall the 1ghz cpu about3 more
times, i decided to double check my bios. it was definitely up to date, but
just to be sure i ran the update again and on the 2nd bios reinstall i got
the laptop to boot up! just to make sure it wasnt a flake, i shut down the
laptop and rebooted it. beatifully, xp acknoledges that its running at
996mhz! no T22 fan upgrade yet and it doesnt seem to be running that much
hotter at all. next up on the list is a 2nd stick of 256ram and a dvd-rw
drive im getting for $10shipped from an old pal!
