A new version of the fglrx driver just came out, 8.27.10, which has
fixed problems for some people according to a bug page:
http://ati.cchtml.com/show_bug.cgi?id=373 . If the failure you
experience is "[fglrx] API ERROR: could no register entrypoint"... when
running glxinfo (I think) then trying 8.27.10 might help.
I too have the M9000 in a T41 running Xorg 7.0, let me know if you
manage to get 8.27.10 working. I'm happily using the 'ati' open source
driver. Although, I've only lightly attempted tv out, which seemed to be
shaky, and I'd be motivated to try fglrx if tv-out capability is improved.
