I had problems with all ati drivers up to 8.27.10. With that one,
powersave seems to work.

With Ubuntu's current 2.6.15, both cores on powersave mode, aticonfig
--set-powerstate=1, wlan on but powersaving enabled with "iwpriv eth1
set_power 7", brightness two notches down from the maximum battery
bios setting, laptop mode turned off (can't stand the delay when the
HD spins up) I get about 17500 mW.
Supposedly, lowering the CONFIG_HZ parameter of the kernel to 100 Hz
can help a bit too, but I haven't tried that yet.
