[ltp] Packaging tp_smapi using module-assistant?

Hi,
I'm updating my Debian repository[1] to tp_smapi 0.27. Currently, I use
the kernel-patch framework to distribute tp_smapi Debian packages
because modification of an in-tree driver (hdaps) is required. This has
a downside in that users are required to build and patch their own
kernel image, although the process is automated using Debian tools. My
question to anyone who knows, and particularly Shem, is if there would
be any way to package tp_smapi as a kernel module (using
module-assistant) and therefore allow users to continue using the
official Debian (or Ubuntu, should demand be there) kernel images?
Personally, I use the official Debian kernel image with tp_smapi, but I
suspect that only works because I don't use HDAPS anymore.
Thanks,
Andrew
