i also updated to fglrx 8.27.10 yesterday (build for sid). starting at
powerstate 3 i can switch to 1 and 2. if i'm in 1 or 2 i cannot go back
to 3. if i try that i get some kind of "corrupted screen" (thin green
and yellow lines ...).
if i try to switch to a console i get a blank screen.
at least switching to powerstate 1 decreases my battery rate about
0,5-0,7w
together with wifi power management (as suggested by kasper) and setting
the brightness to level 5 i'm at 18,3w now.
