Andrew is Andrew Morton who maintains the so-called "-mm" tree:

http://kernel.org/patchtypes/mm.html

"git rc kernel" is referring to kernel snapshots:

http://kernel.org/patchtypes/snapshot.html

Both are currently patches on top of the 2.6.18-rc4 kernel and can be
downloaded here on the front page:

Linux Kernel Mailing List at linux-kernel@vger.kernel.org

I would start with the patch's author. LKML is kind of crowded and
noisy.

All parts should go together without forcing. You must remember that
the parts you are reassembling were disassembled by you. Therefore, if
you can't get them together again, there must be a reason. By all
means, do not use a hammer.
