I've had success suspending my T23. Debian with APM (and lots of manual
configuration), Ubuntu with ACPI (worked out of the box after I enabled
suspend in one config file).

The symptoms (flashing let, blank screen, no suspend) look like a bug
caused by a Ubuntu Dapper kernel security update. IIRC it made nsc-ircc
or some other module unhappy with rmmodding and broke suspend. A
acpi-support script update fixed it by not rmmoding that module on
suspend.
