The GPU is fine :-)
Sure, that's it. Just thinking - if you can load cpufreq (it's
module acpi_cpufreq or something like it and ibm_acpi), maybe you
can control the frequency manually - read the cpufreq documentation
(kernel source Documentation/cpufreq).
Also look at powernowd and apmiser may be worth try.
