This is a WAG based upon a weird glitch I had on my A21p. In that case, my
Ethernet card driver partially loaded but ended up failing. The NULL MAC
address was one of the symptoms.
In that case, it was due to a faulty ACPI implementation in the chipset. Booting
with "acpi=off" was the workaround that got networking going.
