Hi,

it would seem that i'm fooling myself into remembering that i've seen a
BIOS option on some system once to resume from suspend on an ac-online
event. I checked the BIOS of my X20, it doesn't have anything like that.

My issue is that i would like to have an easy (semi)automatic way to
wakeup from resume - and that WakeOnLAN is not really an option.
The ThinkPad's power adapter is connected to a power pass-through port
of my stereo and i configured acpid to suspend it on ac-offline (hence
when i use my remote to switch off the stereo, the TP will suspend and
sit patiently, quietly and modest in it's corner).

It seems like i'm having to give up the idea of triggering a ac-online
event when the ThinkPad is switched off.

I'm going to install some USB LIRC hardware. But i didn't see any
"WakeOnUSB" like option in the BIOS. Would I be able to make it wake up
from USB activity?

The only options in the BIOS are WakeOnLAN and WakeOnRing. As i
understand, WakeOnLAN requires a magic network package, hence just
giving a little power pulse to the Ethernet port would probably not wake
it up, right?

How about WakeOnRing?

Does anyone have any other idea? I'm going to do some hardware modding
to the ThinkPad at some point anyway, so if there would be an easy
hardware tweak on the mainboard that could also help.

Any ideas and outbursts of creativity very much appreciated.

André.
