At least on older models one could set that behaviour in the BIOS, via
tpctl or through a Windows application. The PS/2 controller detects if a
second mouse is plugged and can be configured to disable the TrackPoint
in that case - or to leave it working.

I guess you'll have to live with that. But you could try triggering a
redock event to make the module reloading automatic. Since you probably
use some hotkey to switch the KVM that might be triggerable as well.
