There are programs to run the X10 household appliance switching modules fro=

GNU/Linux, and as well, your Thinkpad can be an IrDA remote controller,=20
either from it's built-in LED, or from a module switched from the parallel=
=20
port if you need more range.
The Thinkpad could turn off the stereo.
If you solve the problem of the Thinkpad controlling other devices, you gai=
n a=20
very smart home automation brain.
