I have installed winXP followed by Ubuntu on my T40/p
But when I run:
sudo fdisk -l
from a shell I get:
Disk /dev/hda: 80.0 GB, 80026361856 bytes
16 heads, 63 sectors/track, 155061 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 1008 * 512 = 516096 bytes
Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/hda1 1 60945 30716248+ 7 HPFS/NTFS
Partition 1 does not end on cylinder boundary.
/dev/hda2 60946 142832 41270985 f W95 Ext'd (LBA)
Partition 2 does not end on cylinder boundary.
/dev/hda3 * 142832 155056 6160927+ 83 Linux
Partition 3 does not end on cylinder boundary.
/dev/hda5 60946 142215 40960048+ 7 HPFS/NTFS
/dev/hda6 142227 142832 305203+ 82 Linux swap /
Solaris
I have heard that I could just ignore this error, but
that is not correct since it also messes something up
in winXP. Eg when I try to use Partition magic to
resize my NTFS partitions the program just exits with
an error. (this did not happen before I installed
Ubuntu).
I have tried to disable the PreDesktop Area option in
BIOS and then make the first partition with winXP
CD-ROM. I make sure to leave som space left which I
use for the Ubuntu installation. When installing
Ubuntu I just choose to use the free space and the
installer takes care of the rest.
Any ideas on why I get this critical error?
I have used the above procedure one a lot of machines
when installing Ubuntu and winXP without ever
encountering the fdisk error.
Hope someone can help!
