Sometimes all old warehorses need is a new OS :)

I just finished installing DSL (Damn Small Linux) on a similar T20 (800Mhz 
512MB Ram). Using DSL frugal install on the hard drive with the toram option 
(loads the entire drive into a ramdrive).

The T20 is more responsive then it has ever been. It's quite fast. My $wife 
utilizes is for mostly browsing from around the house and connecting back to 
her desktops via rdp and vnc.

I purchased a new battery last year, and this thing has been great.
