¡Hello everyone!
I use Ubuntu Dapper, recently upgraded, on my Thinkpad T41.
I was using Breezy and no problems with 3D acceleration on my ATI Radeon
7500. When I installed Ubuntu, the card was succesfully installed by
Ubuntu during the system installation process.
That systema was Breezy. Now I have upgraded to Ubuntu Dapper and I have
lost the 3D acceleration.
I have read many manuals and "ATI and fglrx for 3D" How-to's but I
can't get it working.
The problem is I can't start a X session with "fglrx" driver
in /etc/X11/xorg.conf, but it works prefect with "ati" and "radeon"
drivers. The system tries to start X but it can't, and get a "no screens
found" error.
No screens found!!
I have installed linux-restricted-modules-2.6.15-15-686,
xserver-xorg-driver-ati and xorg-driver-fglrx.
When I try to insert the fglrx module, I get:
root@Will:/home/guille # modprobe fglrx
FATAL: Error inserting fglrx (/lib/modules/2.6.15-15-686/misc/fglrx.ko):
No such device
I attach my /etc/X11/xorg.conf file and the /var/log/Xorg.0.log that I
get when I try to start gdm with the "Driver "fglrx"" activated.
Can you help me?
Thank you very much,
Guille
