No idea. It's pretty much a kludge, but about the only way to do it. To d=
o
it properly I'd require changes to a few pieces of the ACPI and the IDE
drivers.
I probably will sit down, at some point, and do a proper kernel patch that
has a good chance of being accepted, but this module is easy enough for
people to try that I can learn exactly what needs to happen on various
systems.
