Hi everyone,

sorry if this question was asked already but I found this mail-list
recently.
I installed a Debian system on my Thinkpad R51
It use a Atheros WLAN Chipset.
I found madwifi for the Atheros chipset compiled (version from Jan. 06)
it and installed it. Everything was fine during installation.
Since I'm using a WPA-TKIP secure network I installed the wpasupplicant
as well. I believe I configured it correctly and created a suitable
PSK-Key for my SSID.
Starting all services and set the network up I can scan for WLAN-APs. I
find my own and some of my neighbors ;).
After connecting to my AP, the status message of the wpa_cli-tool tells
me that everything is O.K.
Also iwconfig seems to be right.

Sorry I cannot give more details since I'm sitting in front of a
Win-Desktop.

However, I can not connect to the Internet. Even a ping to the router is
not possible. The router works seamless for simultaneously access of
other Windows based clients.
I thought it might be the problem, that Linux is trying to use the
standard-LAN (eth0) port.

But I did not find a way to proof that.

Could someone please advice me or send me some links (I got some How-to
but i't will not work until now.)
Is there any special thing related to my Thinkpad or Debian ?
Can someone report the successful set-up of the WLAN-device (Atheros) on
Debian ?

Thanks for help

Bye
Torsten
