[ltp] Trouble with r300 and fglrx

Hi!
Without having consistently checked, I feel that one of the last xorg
updates (Debian unstable) has decreased the stability of my setup. I'm
using Ati's latest drivers (X300 on an R52) which used to work fine
across suspend/resume even with DRI enabled. Unfortunately, something
recently changed which causes the xserver to hang when restarting it. I
added the option "AlwaysRestartServer=true" in gdm.conf without effect;
sometimes restarting the server works, sometimes it hangs, eating up the
cpu. So the fix in http://ati.cchtml.com/show_bug.cgi?id=239 seems not
to apply here. Does anybody experience the same?
I've always wanted to switch to the radeon/r300 driver, which has
improved a lot. While at this point most of the applications work with
this driver, I had no success to wake up the laptop from STR. Screen
output is garbled and frozen; rebooting via ssh still works. I did not
check if STD works as STR is crucial as well. So my question is, what is
needed to successfully resume with the r300 driver? Do I need vbetool?
I copied the lines from the vbetool-scriptlet from the hibernate package
and included them into the sleep-script in /etc/acpi/actions but this
didn't help. Any ideas?

Torsten
