I think BIOS is not an issue. When booting without AC BIOS sets
frequency to lowest available (in my case 800MHZ -> T43) then Linux
boots up and uses the performance governer (default in my kernel config)
which in fact resets cpu frequency to the highest available (1866MHz).
My problem was, that somebody (BIOS, Linux, Hardware?) set the frequency
to a complete strange value (377Mhz) which could not be set under normal
conditions. Also Linux seems to be really irritated when that
happens...
