The grub menu uses the BIOS' screen expansion, but it looks awful on
my T23/Savage. Far worse than the small menu to my taste. The kernel
option "vga=791" (1024x768) is for the VT only (does not affect the
grub menu).
I have a problem with the VTs on my T23. With VESA and Savage FB
enabled I could use S-t-R and S-t-D, but all the VTs are permanently
blurred after wakeup until I reboot, so it's rather unusable. Never
had time to look deeper into the matter though.
I run Mandriva 2005 Official (stock kernel 2.6.12 and home-made
kernels up till 2.6.16, stock X.org 6.9).
The same does not seem to be a problem under Ubuntu 6.06 i tested
recently (out-of-the-box kernel 2.6.15 & X.org 7). A newer X version
maybe?
