For the sake of completeness:

First, I was happy to let the world know, that my R52 identifies itself
as a "Thinkpad .", which is the reason why I had to patch hdaps.c
manually. Despite neverchangearunning... I updated the BIOS as well as
the embedded controller and lo! I finally have a "Thinkpad R52".
According to the dmi_id-list, the original software gives crappy results
on at least one different R52 model. Now let's see, what problems arise
with the new drivers ;)
