As you rightly are  pointing  it out, "had been" etc... . But alas for 
non Windy systems from now on Lenovo Thinkpads can't be recommended over 
other brands. Remember the new Lenovo trick: you can't just swap hard 
disks anymore as we used to do in the past. It's going to be hard to 
tweak a laptop according to your wishes, if not impossible at all.

BTW: you are wrong about "profitable part of IBM's PC family". IBM had 
to sell out due to the hughes loss the department made. Lenovo took over 
the loss (too), of which the amount was burried in the "disclosed" parts 
of the deal.
