Just a note:  I managed to test T43 FIR (using these patches) against
Windows XP SP2, and while I didn't try enough to get the two to exchange
files yet, the IrDA link DID go up, I could see both computers talking to
themselves at 4Mbit/s, irdadump worked wonderfully, etc.

So, while Linux IrDA might (for all I know) still be shot to hell (mainly
due to the kernel fight between the serial drivers and FIR drivers, which
stinks of design errors), it appears we can support the T43 and R52 IrDA FIR
device just fine with a trivial patch to 2.6.17.
