My T23 is getting just under 235 fps with direct rendering enabled, per
glxinfo, on Debian Sid and KDE. Runing under IceWM that improves about
1 fps. Making glxgears full screen results in 31 fps.
lspci reports:

I have not tried Google Earth yet.
My desktop machine with an ATI 9250 based card runs just shy of 1200
fps.
