[ltp] Which Distro supports T60?

The T60 does have an SATA hard drive. SuSE 10.1 beta 6 installed fine
on it with the SATA set to the default enhanced mode (I forget the
name) instead of compatibility mode (though then it wouldn't boot into
my custom Windows XP install -- apparently the IBM driver download
tool doesn't install the driver for SATA enhanced mode so I'll have to
try to do that by hand). SuSE 10.1 also recognized the Ethernet. I
won't be able to use it enough to determine whether suspend to desk is
reliable, and I can't answer the APM issue either. It does use VESA
video.

We bought the T60 for the dual core capability -- we're a software
consulting shop and often end up with an app server, IDE, build tool,
database, and other stuff competing for CPU resources so the dual core
definitely seems worth it. The only physical change on the 14" seems
to be that it traded the parallel port for an extra USB port (now USB
on both left and right, which is nice). Supposedly the sound is
better but it doesn't seem to have a digital out so what does it
matter? The T60 is a bit quieter than a T43p 2.26.

FWIW, I expected the P-M 2.26 to be faster than the Core Duo 2.16, but
in my apples-to-oranges comparison a Mac Mini with Mac OS 10.4.5 and a
CD 2.16 spanked the T43p with SuSE 10 and a PM 2.26 on our nominally
single-threaded build benchmarks (both machines had 100g/7200 laptop
SATA drives and 2 GB RAM) -- in fact that Mac Core Duo 2.16 is the
fastest machine we've benchmarked. The T60 with a Core Duo 2 GHz
didn't do all that well (under SuSE 10.1 beta 6), but I'm attributing
that to running in an environment where the drivers are not altogether
there.

Thanks,
    Aaron
