>>
>>> To fix sound on a ThinkPad 600 using Ubuntu... is the procedure
the same as the
>>> past posts in the archives for other distributions?
>>> Any thing quick and dirty for Ubuntu?
>>>
>> I had ubuntu on a 770...maybe this can help. take a look at the
770 section on
>> www.axxite.com/brn
>>
>> Cheers
>> Sure, Linux IS different!
>> Otherwise it coulnd't be better.
>>
>
> Check the following link too:
er/009580.html

Be careful. The first link above has information on using ALSA driver=
s,
the second on is about using OSS drivers. Setting up the OSS driver
on
these ThinkPads is maybe a bit easier, but the ALSA driver gives access
to more features of the sound chip. like the (rather useless) "3-D
sound" effect. It would be easy to get confused by the two diffe=
rent
but similar configurations.
