you could also switch you console-driver back to vesafb

dunno that, but analog out works (at least) up to 1600x1200

no problem with that, using mergedFB and the mergednonrectangular option 
in xorg.conf if the screens have different sizes

the OS driver supports "dynamicclocks" which chooses these speeds on demand
