I have no idea. Is there some simple way to test this without
reconfiguring my whole installation? I'm using SuSE and as far as I
know the suspend and resume only supports ACPI.
I now have a T60p to work with for somewhat longer, so I can report on
how it goes. I'm using SuSE 10.1 beta 8 for now (it installed fine
without the SATA compatibility flag). I'm already surprised by how
well the video does considering there's no real driver -- I had
expected it to be super-choppy like the installer, but so far it's
quite reasonable for switching desktops and browsing the web and so
on.
Suspend to RAM did not even give it a go before failing, complaining
that the machine is not on a whitelist or something. There's an
override flag I'll try later. Suspend to disk worked, though there
was an error-like message right before the video came back up. It's
the bit in the middle of this excerpt:

Still, the machine seems to be working OK after the resume.
I plan to try drivers for the Intel 3945 and Verizon cards when I get a cha=
nce.
The modem was not detected, though I haven't used the modem on any
recent ThinkPads so it doesn't really bother me. I did notice that in
Windows, the modem seemed to be configured through the high-definition
audio bus or something like that.
The LAN performance is quite good -- transferring files from a T43p to
the T60p is going at 30 MB/s, whereas I'm used to more like 12 MB/s at
the most. The right side of the palm rest is warming up on both
machines, which I assume is where the hard drive is.
The T60p is significantly quieter than the T43p.
It also uses a different power adapter and different main and ultrabay
batteries.
More later,
Aaron
