Are you, perchance, running any of the T60 user space utilities or kernel
modules that Lenovo made available for the T60 and SuSE Linux?  They are
probably not compatible with tp_smapi, the combination is completely
untested...  although AFAIK from one report to this ML, the tp_smapi and
Lenovo kernel modules should refuse to load together (which is a good thing,
as they are incompatible with each other).
