It could simply be the TrankPoint recalibrating itself automatically.
The thing to do is just wait and let it finish drifting and
recalibrating -- trying to move the Trackpoint while it's drifting
may prevent it from recalibrrating properly.
In my experience this recalibration drift happens more on some models
than others: often on my 600E and 535E, less so on my T23, and almost
never on my T42.
