[ltp] DMA on T43p Ultrabay Slim HD...

Hi all:
I'm trying to get a dual-HD setup going on a new T43p. The primary HD is
Windows XP (sadly), but the HD in the Ultrabay is for Linux. I pulled it
directly from another T43, and it boots/works just fine as a drop-in (other
than the video reconfig).
The issue is, the drive is incredibly slow due to lack of DMA. Google turns
up good hints, but unfortunately none of them work for me. In /etc/grub.conf,
I've tried at various points:
hdc=noprobe
hdc=noprobe libata.atapi_enabled=1
hdc=noprobe
libata.atapi_enabled=1
None of which work. The drive still comes up as /dev/hdc, and still has DMA
off (and hdparm won't let me turn it on).
Any ideas? Thanks!
